It was my grandparents who taught me that emotion. They came from Mexico every few years, when the world was less connected and each reunion felt like a gift.
The one I was most excited about: a handmade piñata, with bright colors and impossible shapes.
I didn't know it then, but that gesture meant so much more: it was the beginning of something bigger.
Today, that childlike spark has transformed into a real space: a Mexican gastro-cocktail bar in Barcelona where everything invites you to reconnect with your inner child.

A Mexican born in Spain… like Chavela Vargas
I was born in Spain, but I grew up with a divided heart.
My only grandparents lived in Mexico, and every trip or visit was a portal to a world of flavors, ampr and color.
Years later I understood what Chavela said with such truth:
“A Mexican is born wherever the fuck he wants.”
And that's what happened to me, even though I did it from this side of the ocean.
Piñata Cantina is my way of sharing that mestizo identity, mestizo in soul, colors, and flavors.
Mexican Spirits: A Journey of Self-Discovery
My professional path led me to cocktails.
But what really transformed me was discovering mezcal, tequila, and Mexico's lesser-known spirits.
Drinks with deep flavor, history and soul.
They're not just for toasting: they invite you to think, to laugh, to look into each other's eyes. They draw you into conversation and silence with equal force.
At Piñata, the bar doesn't serve drinks: it creates experiences.
We are artisans of liquids. And each glass is a tribute to Mexico.
Flavors I couldn't find... until we cooked them here
When I was a child and traveled to Mexico, the flavors captivated me.
Back in Spain, I spent years searching for something that could match them. I never found it.
Therefore, Piñata is also an act of memory.
Our cuisine captures those real, intense flavors, respectful of tradition.
But we serve them with a free gaze, like that of someone trying something for the first time.
Here everything is done with soul:
The corn is nixtamalized.
The guacamole is prepared at the moment.
